FOSSIL CLEANING & PREPARATION
Fossil preparation to remove the matrix surrounding an
embedded fossil is a popular application for micro-abrasive blasting.
Substantial amounts of material need to be removed to expose the fossil, and
damage to the fossil must be avoided. Microblasting or air abrasive equipment
can be used for cleaning fossils because it provides the precision required
to prevent harm to the specimen.

Comco’s micro-abrasive blasters has been
used by renowned museums on the preparation of
Tyrannosaurus rex fossils as well as by artisans and
hobbyists cleaning trilobites, crinoids, ammonites and
other fossils.
