INKJET PRINTER CURING LAMPS

CON-TROL-CURE’s exclusive INKJET CURING LAMP SYSTEM has a small footprint that can fit into the confined areas of most inkjet printers. This lightweight lamp (only 2 lbs) is powered by a solid-state electronic ballast, not magnetic as in many other similar systems. This results in a significantly lower priced offering-- more the 50% less expensive than comparable lamps. The efficiency of the power supply enables it to drive 2 lamp heads, doubling your light production.

The innovative ¾ ellipse reflector sends more focussed light towards your substrate. The specific geometry of this lamp housing results in less light lost and minimal light leakage, creating in a highly efficient system.

LARGE AREA FLOOD CURING LAMPS

The CON-TROL-CURE® Wide Area Flood Curing Lamp is a UV Process Supply exclusive and is ideal for UV curing an expansive area. Fitted with adjustable lamp holders, this new, large area UV Flood housing can accommodate lamps with a total power from 250W up to 1,800W.

This unit casts an even irradiance over a wide area. Placed at a distance of 3 feet from the material to be cured, the Wide Area Flood Curing Lamp projects an effective cure area of at least 5 feet by 5 feet. The lamp housing can sit on a floor and shine up onto a wall. It can also be mounted in almost any other position required, using your own stand and/or supports.

The power supply that accompanies each system would be determined based on the lamp power required. The recommended light source is an Iron Additive lamp.

BALLASTS AND POWER SUPPLIES

CON-TROL-CURE® Power Supplies are sold either encased (complete) or unencased. The encased power supply includes all wiring to ballast, control and high voltage DIN Rails (see next page), capacitors, control panel switches, and display meters. It is ready for use upon delivery. The unencased unit contains the power supply and capacitors required for operating a specified UV lamp. No wires or other related components are included. It is an ideal solution for replacing or upgrading components within an aging system.

Con-Trol-Cure’s® Encased Premium Power Supplies include a variety of unique performance features custom designed to match your specific UV lamp specifications.

ENCASED POWER SUPPLY FEATURES:
• Our exclusive Lamp Voltage Interface (LVI). Designed specifically to monitor the high voltage draw of UV lamps, the LVI’s numeric display can be directly associated with the lamps' voltage consumption. This numeric data can be collected to establish statistical benchmarks and track the lamp’s performance. Once a baseline is established, lamps requiring replacement can be easily identified prior to causing any production issues.
• Thermal-safe overload switch shuts down system to protect against overheating.
• Housing fan runs automatically and will shut down once the housing is sufficiently cool.
• Control features include: on/off switch, ammeter, hour meter, and indicator lights.
• Available in 300, 400, 600, and 750 WPI capacities.

To integrate unencased ballasts into a 3rd party production system, the end user must provide all necessary mercury relays and appropriate wiring. UV Process Supply can provide recommendations and pricing for related components such as timers, metal housings, and volt interface units.

Replacement ballasts and related components are also available for existing systems. To ensure that you receive the correct parts for your system, please specify wattage, part number, and quantity required. Individual replacement parts for unencased systems, such as capacitors, relays, and wiring, are also available. We can provide customized ballasts to meet your specifications.

Important Note: UV Process Supply does not provide engineering support or technical service for installation. While our ballasts are suitable for emergency power reduction switching, and can be interfaced with temperature sensing devices, etc., the customer must provide all electrical engineering and installation expertise.

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR CON-TROL-CURE® POWER SUPPLY PART NUMBER:
For the Basic Power Supply (with 3 power levels), the part number is constructed as follows:
A031 - ### for unencased
A032 - ### for encased

The First "#" represents the first digit of the W/Inch
ie: For an encased 400W/Inch power supply, the part number would be A032-4##.

The next two ## represent the System's Arc Length
ie: For an unencased 300W/Inch power supply, 8" arc length, the part number would be A031-308.

For a Premium Power Supply with 8-level power selection, follow the same number sequence, but add a "P" on the end. (For the standard 3-level power selection, no changes to this number are required.)

Our New Electronic Power Supplies include; single or Dual 400 Watt, 3000 Watt, and 1800 Watt.

While most of these power supplies operate from a 208 - 230Vac line, The 1800 Watt offers the most amount of power possible for a 110Vac outlet.


A few additional benefits include:

Assembly

Turning the lamp on and off only requires a simple switch across two contacts. Also with the 1800W and 3000W versions, various additional ready and fault indicators can be monitored through your PLC, or through the use of a separate control module, available separately.

Dimming
Using the old technology requires high voltage relays, switches etc. Ours requires a low voltage switch.

Weight
Old technology for a 3,000W could be over 75 pounds. With the electronic power supply weighing less than 8 pounds, we can be truly portable or hand held.

Lamp Output
Electronic power supplies produce a smoother, more consistent lamp output, resulting in longer lamp life and cleaner lamp ends (less blackening)

LAMP VOLTAGE INTERFACE LVI

Consistent electrical draw by a UV curing system is essential to maintaining peak UV lamp performance. With reliable electrical service, UV curing lamps will perform with greater predictability to deliver more consistent, repeatable results. The Lamp Volt Interface (LVI), a fully compatible volt measurement device, monitors this draw and can be installed into any Con-Trol-Cure or 3rd party UV curing system.

The LVI integrates parallel to your curing equipment's power supply and irradiator to provide continuous feedback of voltage level during operation. When interfaced with a high impedance panel-mount volt meter, the LVI provides a numerical power reading of lamp energy draw. The operator can use this numerical value to determine when a lamp stabilizes and is ready for use. This numerical value is critical in establishing an initial baseline after installing a new lamp.

As the lamp degrades over time, or if air flow (cooling) within the housing is increased and inadvertently lowers lamp temperature, the lamp will draw less energy. As a result, the LVI’s numerical reading will be less than its initial baseline. This indicates the lamp is drawing less power and may be performing at less than peak efficiency.

By noting this change in numerical values, you can quickly cross-check this variance through physical cure evaluation before under-cured product is generated. If the tested product fails to cure at this numerical value, you can eliminate the inefficiency by changing the lamp, increasing power, or by changing air flow characteristics.

Due to their patented design features, Lighthouse UV Curing Systems offer unparalleled performance at highly competitive prices. Each extruded aluminum housing dissipates heat more efficiently than traditional designs while maintaining the lamp's desired operating temperature for consistent cure results. Combined with Lighthouse's optimally focused reflector geometry, each system generates 20% more energy at the substrate surface than other systems.

Lighthouse UV Curing Systems have been designed with the user in mind. Lamp and reflector replacement requires less than 5 minutes labor due to the system's quick-release hardware. Built-in mounting channels along 3 sides of the lamp housing make new installations or retrofits simple. As well, the universal lamp holder accepts virtually all popular makes of lamp.

UNIQUE AIR FLOW DESIGN

By replacing the aluminum extrusion found in most UV lamp housings with a unique multi-rib system, the Lighthouse's air flow pattern permits unobstructed cooling throughout the housing. The innovative v-shaped reflector is also supported in a manner to create an air channel along the inside of the reflector. As the air is directed along the reflector so as not to interfere with lamp performance, overall efficiency is maintained. Fan-blown air also flows along the outside of the reflector so both sides are cooled simultaneously.

VERSATILE DESIGN

The Lighthouse's universal lamp holders feature a swivel clamping system which accepts any lamp of any manufacturer -- ceramic or metal end fitting. This system also permits the adjustment of lamp focus to ensure that any lamp can be placed in exact focus position for optimal performance. LIGHTHOUSE 10" FOCUS HOUSING

This unique focus geometry, utilizing the Lighthouse housing, allows the UV lamp to be placed 10" away from your substrate. By creating this large distance between the lamp and your product, many benefits are realized. Cooling is much easier and more heat sensitive substrates can be UV cured. As well, the farther away a UV lamp is from the substrate, the smaller the angle of incidence is. That is, the light hitting your product is entering at a more perpendicular angle, with less UV light being deflected off at odd angles. Therefore, more light penetrates your ink or coating and your curing power is magnified. This technology is also available in a 2-lamp system called the Lighthouse Dual Cure.

The Dual Cure works in the same way as the 10" Focus Housing, however, 2 lamps are configured in the housing, creating extraordinary curing power. While there are just 2 lamps providing the curing in this system, it cures with the power, intensity and speed of comparable 3-lamp configurations. The addition of the 2nd curing lamp gives this system a 130% boost over a singular 10" focus lamp.

LIGHTHOUSE CURE TUNNEL

This 4 lamp, 400W/in curing system outperforms the competition, while maintaining the value pricing that CON-TROL-CURE is known for. Utilizing its patented housing geometry, the Cure Tunnel™ represents the next generation in high-speed, 3-D curing.

The 4 asymmetrically mounted lamps in the Cure Tunnel™ provide curing power to the substrate utilizing a unique and efficient layout. Each of the 400W/in lamp units is fixed at a 45° angle. This exclusive configuration enables this unit to outperform systems retailing at nearly 2-1/2 times the price! The Cure Tunnel™ even has power to spare. A current customer has exhibited satisfactory cure while running their system at only half-power (200W/in). The dual lamp layout allows for greater air circulation, keeping the substrate significantly cooler than traditional lamp configurations. Recent performance tests verified that under normal operating conditions, these lamps impart minimal heat onto the substrate. A galvanized steel pipe left the Cure Tunnel™ with an exit temperature of 76°F. Such a dramatic reduction in temperature over comparable systems means heat sensitive substrates (plastic, PVC, etc.) can be cured using the Cure Tunnel™.

THE ROTATOR™-- The new alternative to shuttered systems

For UV curing systems over 36", shuttered housings pose a problem due to the flexibility and play that the shutters allow when they reach these lengths. As they heat up, this problem is magnified. In order to achieve the desired UV light elimination, most competing systems simply line-up 2 shorter housings, end-to-end. A better, alternative solution has been devised. Introducing the CON-TROL-CURE™ Rotator™ system. Instead of attempting to close long, warped shutters, the Rotator™ actually rotates the lamp housing itself. Using an innovative ball bearing hinge, the Rotator™ rotates the housing 90°, allowing the light to be safely captured in a capture box. The Rotator™ length is limited only by the length of your lamp.
